Our camps are intimate with a ratio of 3 teachers to 18 kids. After beginning the day playing games and drawing to warm up, we then all dive into art making Each week besides our themed artwork we make books, spend some quiet time reading, spend time exploring our neighborhood through scavenger hunts and searching for and gathering our art materials.
Our Thanksgiving camps are a one day camp. Join us for one day or for all three. Our winter and Spring Break camps are weekly camps. We offer 10 weeks of summer camp beginning June 26th. We will begin registration for summer beginning in March. For all weekly camps we aks that you register for the entire week. No single days.
spring break camp
In this week long camp we will be focusing on collaboration. While making large scale action paintings, or drawing portraits of eachother, creating collages and large sculptures, students will be working together. We will also be creating individual art porjects inpired by spring, giant flowers, butterfly cloches and more.
We will have morning journal time then a snack. We will then work on a larger project, hike through the neighborhood or doing a treasure hunt. The rest of the day will be reading, playing games and finishing up or starting a new art project.

teeny tiny things
Students will have the opportunity to use a variety of materials from everyday objects to natural materials and turn them into tiny treasures, a matchbox will become a suitcase or a birdhouse, bottle caps will become pies or a cakes, an acorn cap might become a planter for tiny mushrooms. A thread spool might become a table.

Animals in Art
The American folk artists of the early 19th century used many animals from their backyard and beyond to make paintings and sculpture. Students will the take cue from these artists to make collages, sculptures and paintings using clay, recycled materials, watercolor and a variety of papers. We will even go on a scavenger hunt or two to explore our neighborhood.

Milk cartons, water bottles, tp tubes, wood scraps, bottle caps, egg cartons and fabric will be the materials for this weeks campers. We will be creating paper mache creatures and animals, collages and sculptures through manipulating materials.

Weaving, braiding, dyeing, block printing and even some sculpting are just a few of the methods we will be learning during this weeks camp. Using fabric combined with other materials to create soft scultptues and wall hangings.

Exploring paint and it's many forms will be the subject of this week. watercolor paint, tempera paint, sumi ink. powdered paints Kds will make large scaled paintings, collaborative paitnings self-portrait paintings. absstract paintings, black and white paintings. We'll also explore color by mixing our own colors.

Large scale drawings, tiny drawings, plein aire drawing, self-portrait drawing. We will use a variety of materials, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, chalk pastels to make sculpture drawings, narrative drawings, still-life drawings. We will play a lot of drawing games and work together to make a large scale collaborative artwok.

paper maché creations
Using paper maché to build all kinds of sculptures, flying machines, masks and more. Be prepared for lots of gooey fun and cool creations.
- ages 5-10
During the week we will transform ourselves into puppeteers, creating not only puppets of various sizes from various materials, but also theaters for the dramas to take place. Students will learn puppetry from around the world and have a chance to make shadow puppets, hand puppets made from plaster, sock puppets and marionettes.
- ages 5 and up
Let’s build a fort. Let’s look at other cultures and the shelters they have built for celebration, for sleeping and protection. We’ll use fabric, wood, paper to build structures, treehouses, huts and even a large cardboard collective fort.

We will be mixing, stirring, making creations in our own apothecary. The kids will have the opportunity to discover the magical, healing, aromatic, and delicious properties of plants and herbs. Students will make salves, candles, natural sodas, teas and a few made up potions.

Many artists use printmaking as their medium. We will be looking at many of these artists, from Andy Warhol and his graphic popism to LA's own Sisiter Corita Kent and her layering and blocking of color and text. We will make our own stamps, print on fabrics to make flags, on cardboard to make sculptures. We will do monoprinting, foam printing, printing from everyday objects and printing from foods.
